Let it snow, let it snow... Let it Go!!

Hello everyone!! It's been awfully snowy out here in the ole' SLC. So I thought a snowy cold manicure was in order. I'd like to try to enjoy the snow, but it's super hard when I crazy hate being cold!

I got to thinking... There is no 'too hot' temperature for me. It gets to like, 105F max in the summers here, and as exhausting and gross as that is, I think if you put it and freezing temperatures together to pick one, I would rather be hot. My body hurts when it shivers sooooo...
And none of this "take layers off, put layers on" Even if it's cold for just a short period of time... It's too cold.

Anyhow, rant over... NAILS!

 Texture so nice!!!

I got these super cute stickers from Born Prettty!! On the index finger I did NOT apply a topcoat over the sticker, whereas on the other two nails I did. I think I like it better without, although it's more likely to fall off faster. Win some, ya lose some. Overall, the stickers are wonderful. They peeled off the backing perfectly, and applied very smoothly. Love!

The blue is Jelep Margaret and the white is NOT Venique for once. =P The white is Julep Eileen. There is some glitters at the tips. That's a sponging of Sally Hansen Disco Ball. The chevron and ring finger start with Eileen, and then have some loose glitter sprinkled on top. Btw, I need a thousand more loose glitters. I LOVE the textured look without having to seek out a texture polish! However, it does flake off pretty easily, but at least it leaves behind a nice texture.

As always, don't forget to use my coupon code if you decide these stickers need to be in your life, or anything else from The Born Pretty Store!!

As the boyfriend said about this mani.. "Very merry, very Christmas." =D
Hope your holidays were super great!!!

A bit of ComicCon and Today's Mani!

Hey!!
I am very saddened to tell you that I saw no nerdy nails at ComicCon. Where were you people?!?! =(
But I did see one or two amazing manis, just a solid color or so. Unfortunately nothing that I was able to snag a decent picture of. Oh well!

ComicCon was great! I wish that I could share with you everything that happened, but that would be a lot of typing, and very boring for you!

however I will share this!
It's nothing super fancy, but while waiting in line to get into Ballroom 20 for the Dexter panel, we decided this was an appropriate thing to do! We got plenty of compliments from Dexter fans, and even one from Emilia Clarke, an actress from Game of Thrones! This was the extent of our nerdy nails, mostly because this was just too cool, and I didn't bring enough polish!!!

As far as stuff we did...
Panels. Lots of them!!! Dexter, Psyche, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Family Guy, Futurama, The Simpsons, Elementary...and more! Other than that a crazy experience at a diner called Coco's near the Best Western we stayed at,, and an awesome hot tub party with a sexy Canadian, a crazy old war veteran, and a Scottish guy with his adorable little daughters!!!

Did anyone else go to ComicCon? What was your favorite moment?!?

Oh also, some nails! =D

This is CND Asphalt and Sally Hansen Wet Cement. Freehand acrylic paint for the swirls. I am so in a gradient mood. I need another nail art challenge. Anyone??

CND Asphalt swatch. This is on clearance like EVERYWHERE I go. Awesome blue/grey color. Love it a ton!!

I Got Craft Scissors!!

Thank you all so much for your awesome comments! =D
I love reading what you have to say, compliment or constructive criticism! you all rock!! I love looking at other blogs, and do often. Don't mind me if I don't comment as often as I should.. =(
I should start doing shout-outs, yes? Yes. I'll find a blog and next post, they will get a shoutout! =D

So I finally picked up some craft scissors, as the title so says!
I got 12 pairs for 7 bucks at Michael's. So you could imagine they probably suck..They do a bit!!
But I don't care, it worked perfectly for what I wanted!

These are the designs it came with. I couldn't pass this up. Even though quality does not go hand in hand with quantity on this one!

But they are sooo pretty! =D Check out those COLORS!!

This is the mani I created with one. I wanted different greens, but I work with what I have. Now I suddenly have green cremes of various shades on my wishlist!
I used Orly Lucky Duck, and Sally Hansen Green With Envy(which of COURSE looks too yellow in this..=/ )

Let me share with you some tips I found, especially with working with the cheapy scissors:
Fold down the edge of the tape just a bit. I've folded it a lot more here than I should, just to show what I mean.

Place the tape to a paper. One that is more slick works the best! I used a Kohl's advertisement that the tape will peel off of easily. Cut the paper into the size and shape you are looking for.

All size pieces work!! Peel the tape off the paper using the folded edge you made.

And there you have it! Use the tape however you like it. Don't forget to remove the tape while the lacquer is still wet, or it won't work nearly as well!

Giveaway winner and today's mani!

Hello everyone! This giveaway was so much fun! I'm glad you joined and thank you so much for the support!!
I can't even believe how many followers I gained with this, thank you!! Now I have to actually do something to impress you, yes???
I feel that maybe I cheated. Of course people will come if there is free stuff involved! But, I still did it, and here you are!! Don't go anywhere, you never know what I may do next.

Anyway, congrats to Lulu!!! She is the winner of the Summertime Giveaway! Thank you again to everyone who entered! It means so much to me that people actually like the art and obsession enough to look at it every now and again. <3 <3

So, here is my mani I did today. I just bought Essie Sexy Divide, Super lovely purple!!!
Purples are always so hard to capture. I had to change the temperature of the picture just a bit to acquire the actual color of the polish. That is a reason why this is the only pic, too!
I have to say, this pic is not one of my best, but also not the worse either!!

The stamping is done with a plate that I got in the As Seen on TV kit, but it is a knock off of M60. Love my cheapy plates!! The gold is a Sally Hansen Quick Color chrome pen. Those things are AWESOME for stamping! =D

I need more plates!! I really only have the Bundle Monster ones. Any suggestions of the best patterns? I love patterns that cover the whole nail! Super pretty!
Please let me know!!!

Have a fab day, everyone! <3

Nailgrowth Miracle Challenge

Hi my favorite people!
I picked up some pretty Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle color today! I've been wanting to do this for a while now. I applied a lovely manicure today with my pretty new color, and we are going to test it's guarantee!!

The tagline and promise is "30% longer nails in 5 days, guaranteed*!"
*Nail tip length (you figure out what that means, specifically..)

I am assuming it means 30% of length from my cuticle to the end of the bed, NOT including any free edge tip! That being said, 30% is a LOT more than I would ever give this stuff credit for. Are you kidding me? That's like 3 millimeters, or just over 1/4 of a centimeter. Yeah, doubt that would happen from less than a week of nail stuff.

What my hopes for this is about the thickness or a quarter in growth (aprox 1 1/3 mm). I usually get that length in about 2 weeksish. Slow nails =(
It does not specify how to use it. Do I apply every day? Every other? Doesn't say. The 'treatment' bottles say every other day on clean dry nails, but the color says nothing of the sort. What I will be doing with the majority of my nails is completely leaving the polish alone, and measure just based off of the regrowth at my cuticles. Seems fair. With my pinkies, however, I will remove the polish with non-acetone remover every night and reapply. Then just see what happens!!

Here is evening of application!

Isn't this color WONDERFUL!? It's called Beautiful Berry. Irl, slightly more of a dusty shade than you see here, but very close! I've gone ahead and topped this off with Revlon Extra Life, No Chip topcoat...This will also be a test for that. After that, because I am impatient, I dropped my Qtica half time drops on them.

Another test...Can I not pick!?! I have to leave these suckers alone for almost a WEEK!!! The easiest place to pick is at the cuticle, and that will completely ruin my test! Challenges all around!!

=D

This will be going on until Tuesday night! That will be officially 5 days.

Zoya Haul and Curent Mani!

Heyyy! So I ordered some friends a ton of Zoya!! I reaaalllyyy wanted to share the haul because it's so awesome!!

Only the first row is what I bought for myself....Woot!
So top to bottom, left to right:
Avery, Avery, Jinx, Penny, Trixie, Nina, Veruschka, Kelly, Gia, Pippa, Jem, Jinx, Julieanne, Charla
Dovima, Veruschka, Savita, Indigo, Kym, Midori, Luna, Chloe, Cynthia, Maisie, Bevin, Tangy, Nephratiti, Akyra
Skylar, Tru, Dovima, Tao, Luna, Sofia, Maisie, Opal, Chloe

Friggedy awesome, right??? I only wish I could keep the other! There's repeats because the order is for 5 or 6 people!

Onto my mani...I had WAY higher hopes for this, but I still like it!

I wanted to tape this, then I realized that would take forever, so I freehanded. Except the triangle, that's both!
I love Dark Side of the Moon. <3
Used SC Secret admirer with a bit of Zoya Indigo sponged over that. Then a white striper. The rainbow is a red striper, CG Breakin', CG Solar Power, SH Ivy league, Zoya Jo, SC Fiji.

I think I will redo this one someday, but better! Also I don't know why the prism is so cloudy... We can ignore that!

Modern Blocks

Here is a little tape design today! I took these pics about 8 hours after the mani was completed, so mild picking happened. Old habits...=/

This was inspired by a pair of Fruit of the Loom undies I have! =D
Used Zoya Purity, CG Purple Panic, SH Green with Envy, and Zoya Raven.

I think this is pretty awesome!! Totally fun and easy to do. Just take 4 pieces of tape per square, then a coat of Seche Vite after each block. So this went: Purity, SV, Purple Panic, SV, Green with Envy, SV, Raven, SV. That means over the black there is 8 layers!!!

If I ever do this mani again, I would change the position, size and amount of the squares. Slightly bigger, or a few more seems to be what it's missing.
What do you think??

Salon Effects

So I wasn't going to post about this, but here it is. this is my first attempt at these silly things. The middle finger ended up all stretched but whatevs! A HUGE thank you to Laura over at The Thing I Like Now for the help with this one. Certainly helped me figure it out.

Anyway here it is...Don't mind my mild owie. =(

Overall, I'm not a big fan of these. I kind of feel like I should be doing my own art on my nails, because that's my hobby. But still, they certainly have awesome designs and I can't complain too much!

Also this pic is the day old mani...Meaning I've had 24 hours to pick at it, and it shows!!

One stroke flowers!

Oh man, could this challenge be any longer??? Day THIRTY finally! Inspired by a tutorial is this one. I did this amazimg tutorial for this. She makes it look so easy! Well, I don't think it was that bad for a first attempt! I kinda (REALLY) love it!!

Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac, with acrylic paint over that. You guys should see my right hand. HA! It ended up with just accent nails, and oh man were they a terrible sight! Practice practice! But I am still in love, and will attempt this one again in the very near future!

Let me know what you think and how I can improve! Thanks ladies!
Love you!

Nyan Nyan!!

I did a bit of a twist on the Nyan Cat nails!! Generally people do Nyan for their rainbow nails day of the challenge. Aw no, not me! Supernatural day! 'Cause you know..He's in space?? I think this probably could have been done better, but oh well! Enjoy!

My camera was being silly, so I didn't get many good pics, so these will have to do!
OPI Pink Friday is the poptart frosting. CG Sexy Lady is sprinkles. Zoya Pandora for the poptart edge. Orly Sweet Peacock for the blue. SH Wet Cement for kitty! Rainbow is: CG Bing Cherry, CG Breakin', CG Solar Power, SH Ivy League, Zoya Jo, CG Grape Juice. I used a sinful colors striper for black!

I'm sorry, I feel like this post is lacking something. May have to do with the design didn't work as well as I was hoping, and I'm a little bummed. =( Oh well! I still like it!

Day 28...Finally!

I've been soooo lazy with this last week of the challenge!! This one is inspired by a flag. So I give you a twist on the Polish Flag. that's POH-lish, guys! There is a story behind this, but first...PICS!!

I love the sticker! <3

Ok, story...When I first made my Nail Polish Party event on facebook it was simply called "Polish Party". Seriously, everyone thought Poland. We all had a laugh and wanted to being sausage to the party, although no one did...=(. Anyhow, I said I was going to crayon draw a Polish flag and pin it to the door of the party, but after seeing that it was just 2 equal halves, red on bottom, white on top I kinda lost my inspiration to do so! Still, it's an awesome flag and I thought I would give it the honor of being my challenge flag!! Also inspired by Ayumi Hamasaki!!

Xtreme Wear White on, China Glaze Bing Cherry, Venique Dominating Thigh Highs for the black.
Enjoy!

The red schmeared when I put SV on it...Oh well. The Cat in the Hat is AWESOMEE!!!!

Gaga, Ooh La La!

Day 22 is Inspired by a Song! Lady Gaga - Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)

We can be strong, We can be stong
Out on this lonely road, on the road to love
We can be strong, we can be strong
Follow that unicorn on the road to love!!

Used: SH White on, SC Black on Black, and the So Easy Stripe Rite striper thing you can get at Sally's. The red glittery one, obviously!!! The stamp plate is a knock off I have of Konad m57. I got it from that As Seen on TV stamper thing bought at Rite Aid.

I think Gaga must wear a lot of lace out on her motorcycle. Also, I'm going to do my nails like this when I go on a big ride this summer. Yes...I ride a motorcycle! =D And I friggedy love it!!!

There she is! Lorelei!

Stargazing

I LOVE these Galaxy Nails!

Don't mind my pinkie cut. ^-^;

I actually took my time and did some nice Galaxy Nails for day 19 of the challenge!!!

So many colors used!! Sinful Colors Secret Admirer is the base. It's a pretty black and silver sparkley. Sponged over that is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, China Glaze Breakin (orange), Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl(pink), OPI Yodel Me on My Cell(blue).

I dotted some white and was going to leave it at that, but SH Twinkle Twinkle just called to me for MORE stars in the night!

Enjoy!
